Job Title: 1st Assistant Director

Reports to: Head of Production

Job Purpose                

To break down the script to provide an efficient and sympathetic schedule and run a disciplined and organised set or location in order to complete the shooting schedule within the agreed timeframe.  To work in a healthy and safe manner.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

To read and breakdown scripts in order to assess production requirements.  

To produce a viable recording or shooting schedule and as a result provide call sheets.

Be responsible for requesting/estimating background artistes and action vehicles working to a budget, following discussions with Director.

To liaiseg with Production Managers regarding unusual equipment requests prior to planning/recce meeting.

To liaise with all departments in order to produce the block in the most cost effective and efficient manner.

To attend and help conduct Planning/Recce meetings and to take notes.

To complete Risk Assessment forms in order to ensure all Health and Safety factors are considered and take any necessary action.

Be responsible for spearheading the entire production unit’s efforts, using diverse and comprehensive communication skills in order to maximise every available resource (maintaining all health and safety factors), thus enabling the Director to achieve the editorial directive.

To work closely with Production Managers and Head of Production to deliver episodes in the most cost efficient, healthy and safe manner.

To understand shooting plans and scripts, in order to work quickly and effectively.

To set up background and main action when necessary.

To maintain set and Location discipline.

To adapt quickly to changes and prioritise, and deal swiftly and sympathetically to, any unforeseen  problems.

To maintain editorial integrity whilst making positive decisions with regard to budget and Production.
