Joey Essex gets educated in series of ITV specials

Joey Essex will return to ITV2 this summer in the first of a series of specials “Educating Joey Essex.”

Following the phenomenal success of his trip to Africa, Joey will be travelling both home and abroad to continue his education and learn more about the world and the cultures within it – covering everything from football to fashion. TOWIE creators Lime Pictures and ITV will be capturing every reem moment of his life-changing journey for viewers’ entertainment!

Educating Joey Essex will kick off with a football themed special that will see Joey fly to Brazil ahead of the World Cup. Here, he will explore the nation’s favourite sport at the heart of the world’s biggest tournament while learning more about Brazilian culture and the wonders of this beautiful country. Landing in rhythm filled Rio he will be thrown into the Brazilian world of samba, caipirinhas and favelas but how will he cope with the changes in culture in this vibrant City?

When asked what he knows about Rio, Joey said “Rio is a chain of hotels or a casino innit?” On the subject of football he comments; “I’m from a football mad family but I don’t really know a lot about football so I want to learn more. I know the cards, but what’s the sideman called? The man at the side with the flag?" He is definitely set to learn something this summer…

Executive Producer, Phil Harris says: "Joey’s list of things that he wants to learn about are eclectic to say the least! We can't wait to bring ITV2 viewers everything from football to aliens, the Joey Essex way. “

Educating Joey Essex is a Lime Pictures production for ITV2. Educating Joey Essex: Football (working title) is due for transmission this summer with a series of specials to follow later in the year.
