Joey Essex Is Off To Parliament For New ITV2 Special Educating Joey Essex: General Election, what are you saying?!

Joey promoting 'Educating Joey Essex - Election Special' TV programme, London, Britain - 24 Mar 2015Lime Pictures are pleased to announce that following the huge success of last year’s Educating Joey Essex series of specials, ITV2 have commissioned Lime to produce another 60 minute special, this time around the general election.  Educating Joey Essex: General Election, what are you saying?!  will challenge Joey to get in touch with the hottest topics in politics, in an effort to understand the issues that affect people of his generation, and ultimately make his decision on whether or not he should vote and if so, who to vote for.

Cameras will be on hand to capture every step of Joey’s induction into politics, as he tours the Houses of Parliament and interviews some of the most influential figures in Westminster.

Currently clueless about who runs the country, Joey will also go in search of each of the political leaders for answers on why he should vote for them.

Along the way, Joey will be mentored by political columnist and broadcaster Isabel Hardman, who will be on hand to help him get to grips with Government affairs and make his mind up on who to vote for.

He’s openly admitted he would love to be the ‘Prime Minister of Essex’ and once shamelessly asked Ed Miliband for a selfie, in spite of having no idea which political party he represents, but now Joey is determined to find out if the vote really counts   as Joey Essex’s pre Election education begins.

Joey Essex comments; "I've never voted before, but I'm really excited about getting to meet some of the most important people in the country to help me make my decision.  I reckon I'll take some pretty reem selfies too."

Executive Producer for Lime Pictures Phil Harris comments; “Joey Essex could be the next Jeremy Paxman but with reemer hair and more twitter followers.  I can’t wait to see what happens when we unleash him upon Westminster.”

Hollyoaks Win Sexual Health Award for Campaigning Story-line

Hollyoaks has won a UK Sexual Health Media Award for Best Media Campaign / Story-line of the Year for the emotive Maxine and Patrick “This is Abuse” storyline surrounding domestic violence.

Hosted by Dr Phil Hammond, the UK Sexual Health Awards recognise the work of professionals, educators, volunteers, young people, services, projects, programmes, campaigners, journalists, advertisers and scriptwriters – all who make a difference with their work in sexual health.

The judges said of the story-line; “Soaps have always been at the forefront of issue-led drama, getting the nation talking, challenging beliefs, and changing hearts, minds and – at times – even laws. Our award goes to a storyline that not only explored an issue sensitively, dramatically and often uncomfortably over a whole year, but built that into a strong campaign with a clear message, working closely with the Home Office to provide exclusive content for their This Is Abuse website and television adverts, and through that helped educate a generation of young people in what domestic abuse really looks like. For a truly exceptional example of how to harness the power of storytelling, the award goes to Hollyoaks for Maxine and Patrick’s Domestic Abuse storyline.”

The prize was collected by cast and crew from the hit C4 show as they celebrated the show’s #YearoftheSafeSex campaign which aims to tackle the issues around safe sex both on and off screen.
