Hollyoaks triumphed at the British Soap Awards with four wins, including Best British Soap.
The live ceremony, which was hosted by Phillip Schofield, took place on Saturday 1 June at The Lowry theatre in Manchester and welcomed cast and crew from Hollyoaks, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Doctors.
Fifteen trophies were given out on the night and Hollyoaks won Best British Soap and Best Actor for Gregory Finnegan, which were voted for by the public, plus Best Male Dramatic Performance for Adam Woodward and Villain of the Year for Nathan Sussex, which were voted for by a panel of industry experts.
Jessica Fox accepted the Best British Soap gong and spoke on behalf of the whole production.
She said: “A massive thank you to all our viewers who voted to make this possible. It’s amazing and so exciting and we are thrilled.
“A huge thank you to Kate Little and Clare Poyser and to Alex, Ian and Kate at Channel 4 for all the support they have given us over the last year.
“But we would not be standing here to accept this award if it wasn’t for one very special man, Bryan Kirkwood. His love for telling stories and his intuition for knowing what will excite our audience, his passion for Hollyoaks never fades and without his ability to make you laugh, cry, shout at the TV and cheer for our characters we would be lost. We are truly lucky to have you at the helm.
“Hollyoaks isn’t just about us standing up here, it’s about the people who work on the ground making this show happen. The crew, the directors, the writers, storyliners, production team, makeup, costume. It’s about the 350 people in Liverpool who work for Lime pictures tirelessly, and with such passion and dedication - we are bringing this award home to them!”
