Lime Lands First Animation Commission for Netflix with Fantasy Adventure Series, Wereworld.

Lime Lands First Animation Commission for Netflix with Fantasy Adventure Series, Wereworld.

Lime Pictures is delighted to announce today that we are adapting the epic fantasy adventure series, Wereworld, as an animated series for Netflix.

Based on the books by Curtis Jobling, Wereworld follows Drew Ferran, as he comes of age and discovers he's the last of a long line of werewolves, and rightful (yet reluctant) ruler of a land governed by Werelords. Drew must fight to abolish the tyranny of the Lionlords and reclaim the throne.

Lime are working with the animation team at Jellyfish Pictures to produce the series, which will be directed by Tom Brass for Jellyfish and produced by Angelo Abela, Tim Compton, Curtis Jobling and Barry Quinn for Lime.

Lime Pictures’ Managing Directors Kate Little and Claire Poyser said: “We are thrilled that our first animation commission for Netflix is this truly captivating story; it will be amazing to see it brought to life by the outstandingly talented teams at Lime and Jellyfish.”

Tim Compton & Angelo Abela, Heads of Kids & Family at Lime said: “It is a dream to be adapting Curtis’ epic books, alongside the incredible team at Jellyfish. The world of the Werelords is so vivid and exciting – we can’t wait for everyone to join the adventure.”

Lime Pictures’ US team has been commissioned to produce Who Do You Believe?, an innovative, new series featuring simultaneous storytelling to take viewers through compelling true-crime cases from dual perspectives. In each episode, the audience steps into the shoes of two contrasting narratives to hear the recounts directly from the victims and criminals with never-before-revealed details. Then the viewer plays armchair detective to deduce and piece together different versions of the truth. There are two sides to every story – and there’s no telling how far one would go for their marriage, child or way of life. Within this unique storytelling format, every episode culminates by revealing key details from the adjudicated cases leaving you to question: “Who Do You Believe?”

Who Do You Believe? is produced by Lime Pictures (part of All3Media) in association with Walt Disney Television’s newly formed alternative production unit. Sarah Tyekiff and Ben Crompton are executive producers for Lime Pictures, Alex Weresow as the showrunner and executive producer, and Suzanne Ali as co-executive producer.

The Only Way is Essex is back for a brand-new series on ITVBe on 12th September. Returning to the heart of Essex, this series will delve deeper than ever before into the lives of our TOWIE cast, from relationships and families, to businesses and personal passions.

The romances, drama and world record-breaking triumphs of the last series were a rollercoaster. Now, our cameras are back and promise to bring you the latest buzz from our Essex faves.

Kicking things off with a sun-soaked opening episode, the group are on a glamorous staycation on the south coast, spending the week in Sandbanks, Dorset, home of the world’s most expensive coastal real estate. From beach parties and jet-skiing to fabulous holiday homes, will this UK getaway rekindle relationships? Spark new ones? Or will summer flings and social media mishaps interfere?

Since the cameras left them, a lot has changed for our glam group. Chloe Brockett and Lockie are the talk of the town as news of their secret tryst spreads like wildfire. Has their news confined itself to the Essex gossip mill, or have the juicy details reached a certain someone in Dubai?

Chloe Sims is on the road to 40 and trying to process the fact her little girl Maddie is growing up; whilst her sisters Frankie & Demi look to pursue a joint dream. Amy is back with her daughter Polly by her side, she’s newly single and on a mission to find a man.

Diags focuses on his latest challenge with his dad’s business; Saffron is on a new spiritual path and blocking out all negativity; and Roman’s modelling career is flourishing with the help of his new cheerleaders - the Sims sisters. Pete is throwing himself into his business and putting his serial-dater knowledge to good use by planning a singles retreat for the gang.

Dani & Gatsby are very loved up, but have they gone official yet? Elsewhere, Amber & Dan have been discussing the next step in their relationship, is it time to add to their family?

The Only Way Is Essex has been recommissioned by ITV’s Paul Mortimer, Content Director, On Demand and Acquisitions and Amanda Stavri, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment, ITV. The series is made by Lime Pictures and is executive produced by Aaron Morgan and Anthea Poli.

‘Overstanding other people’s cultures, I believe, is one giant step towards an inclusive society and drama is one of the best tools to do that.’ – Patrick Robinson

‘Once cultural differences are understood, this can often dissipate hatred, racism or bigotry simply, by telling truthful stories we can all relate to.’ – Kelle Bryan

Filming has commenced on an hour-long special that will play a pivotal part in Channel 4’s Black to Front, the ground-breaking diversity project culminating in a special day of content on Friday September 10th.

Across the day Channel 4 will broadcast programming fronted by Black talent and featuring Black contributors, to champion Black voices and stories, and the incredible Black talent that make, shape and star in British TV.

Planned over a year, and working with numerous production partners, Black to Front is part of Channel 4’s on-going commitment to improve Black representation on and off screen. From breakfast right through to late night, some of Channel 4’most iconic shows will have Black talent at the forefront, offering viewers a new perspective of much-loved programmes.

Hollyoaks will air a special episode - written by Hollyoaks core team writer Thabo Mhlatshwa - anchored around the pivotal Black Deveraux family and joined by characters past, present and future, played by Black and of Black heritage talent.

It will be directed by Patrick Robinson, whom fans of continuing drama will know from his early acting career playing consultant Martin ‘Ash’ Ashford in Casualty for a number of years. He first began directing in 1998 on the short film, Monument, also playing the lead character. This will be his first major directorial debut for a continuing drama.

Patrick said: “I’m very excited to be directing this hour long special of Hollyoaks, featuring characters who share my background and heritage.

“Overstanding other people’s cultures, I believe is one giant step towards an inclusive society and Drama is one of the best tools to do that. Music, Dance and Art also play a vital part in giving greater insight basically because we feel it…Heart, body and soul.

“Love is the theme of the episode, which I hope we can all relate to. And my litmus test for any good work? Did I feel…”

Patrick is directing the hour-long special, while acclaimed director Paulette Randall will direct the four episodes preceding.

Randall, who was given an MBE in 2015 for services to drama, is the first Black woman to direct in the West End and has a long history of championing stories that portray the Black experience. Other professional credits include associate director for the 2021 London Olympics opening ceremony, as well as cult British drama including The Desmond’s, The Real McCoy, Death in Paradise and Casualty.

The setting for the episode is a family party for Reverend Walter Deveraux’s birthday. Many costumes for the event were sourced from local black retailers and the concept for traditional dress was worked on collaboratively with cast members including Trevor Toussaint, who plays Walter.

The episode features an original score by acclaimed London-based composer Bankey Ojo, who has previously supervised high-profile dramas and commercials for the likes of BET, Channel 4, Adidas and Beats by Dre. His unique approach to sound and the relationship between music and storytelling is used fully throughout, adding yet another layer of nuance and power to a number of key storylines.

As  well as writing the episode, Thabo Mhlatshwa has also contributed to the overall soundtrack by selecting a number of tracks to feature in the episode, celebrating Black British artistry by the likes of Arlo Parks and YXUNG Bane, adding energy and giving a real sense of urgency to the overall narrative Thabo has written.

Actress Kelle Bryan said: “This Black to Front episode is a celebration of family traditions, which have historically held Black families and Black communities together since migration. Our purpose is to make a meaningful contribution to the Black to Front tapestry aptly curated by Channel 4.

“Capitalising on Hollyoaks' youthful viewership, hopefully this will allow our audience to come on a journey with us, understanding our culture and realising the fundamentals that make us all the same.

“Once cultural differences are understood, this can often dissipate hatred, racism or bigotry, simply by telling truthful stories we can all relate to.”

Hollyoaks is produced by a range of staff and freelancers. Key Black talent, who have joined for the hour-long special will continue to work on future episodes.

As a result of Black to Front, the production has opened up traineeships in departments including sound, cameras, costume and digital, leading to either a retained, paid, role or qualification in that area of expertise.

Five new cast members in the episode will stay on as series regulars. There are two Black guest stars who have joined for the one-off episode. More information will be revealed in the run up to September.

Sexy Beasts, produced by All3Media’s Lion TV, have announced two brand-new seasons coming to Netflix this year. The first series, comprising of 6x30 minute episodes, is available on the streaming platform from today, with six further episodes arriving later this year.

Sexy Beasts offers an extraordinarily unique dating experience, when looks are taken out of the equation using Hollywood movie prosthetics. Single men and women are brought together with their real looks completely hidden, as they’re transformed into all manner of animals and fantastical creatures before their romantic adventures begin.

The show is filled with a cast of vivacious, funny and loveable characters - from a party-loving Panda in search of a husband to a Rhino who has recently taken up Sex Kung Fu - with plenty of real, genuine love matches discovered along the way.

Each episode features a new single “picker” searching for true love based purely on personality. They will date three potential love matches - all in full prosthetic makeup. Only when the dating is over and our picker has chosen their love match will everyone’s real faces be revealed.

Over the two series, 48 unique makeup designs were created. Each were designed specifically for the show’s contributors by prosthetic artist Kristyan Mallet, renowned as one of Film and TV’s leading FX artists, having worked on Hollywood films from ‘Mission Impossible’ to ‘The Theory of Everything’.

Simon Welton, Creator and Executive Producer for Lion TV said: “Making Sexy Beasts for Netflix has been an incredibly exciting process. With an international cast featuring some truly brilliant characters, a host of prosthetics which look extraordinary in 4K, the viewers are in for a real treat. I hope the show puts a smile on peoples’ faces as they play along to discover who'll fall in love with who, and what our cast all really look like.”

Nick Catliff, Lion TV’s Chief Content Officer and Richard Bradley, Lion TV’s Chief Creative Officer, said: "Sexy Beasts is a big step in the evolution of Lion's relationship with Netflix. Last year we made the global hit feature documentary "Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb" and this year it's "Sexy Beasts" which is fun, frivolous and totally original which is just what we all need during these strange times. It's great to be working with a streamer that supports genuine creativity and risk-taking across the genres. Making an ambitious transatlantic dating show through the pandemic was a massive challenge for us all at Lion but we are thrilled with the way it’s turned out.”

Sexy Beasts is available to stream on Netflix now.
