The successful candidate will be an experienced continuing drama Storyliner and have a proven track record. Essential attributes include:

  • A brilliant instinct for the balance of comedy, high drama and heart-breaking human stories that define the show
  • An excellent grasp of script structure and story, both within episodes and longer narrative arcs
  • The ability to work calmly to tight deadlines and high standards within the demanding environment of high-volume drama, which requires rock-solid organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to have honest, tough conversations while maintaining the friendly, supportive environment on which we pride ourselves
  • An interest in keeping abreast of youth culture, and have an awareness of current issues to help generate agenda-setting stories
  • A good awareness of the production elements of making drama for television.

We are currently looking for a creative, innovative, energetic STORY PRODUCER to lead the storyline team in the devising, writing and editing of detailed storylines to an agreed vision as outlined by the Series Producers and Executive Producer. The successful candidate will be expected to:

– Manage the story team and the day to day running of the story office, including all work relating to the publication of the storylines
– Co-chair story and commissioning conferences
– Plan the block and pitch it to the Series Producers/Exec Producer
– Lead the talk-throughs with the storyline team then apportion work appropriately
– Write, edit and re-draft storylines to the vision of the Series Producers/Exec

Applicants should have experience of storylining, story editing or script editing on a serial drama and should also have:

– Excellent leadership skills
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Ability to write clear unambiguous prose
– A desire for excellence and a rigorous ‘quality filter’
– A high level of creativity with the ability to generate a high volume of ideas under time pressure

Production Assistant

We are currently looking for an experienced production assistant.

The successful candidate will  be an experienced drama script supervisor and assist both the Story Team and Production Team in the successful and accurate delivery of the Hollyoaks production.

The role holder will be required to:


  • Ensure that every aspect of the film’s continuity is meticulously transmitted from script to screen
  • Send rehearsal scripts to all artistes prior to filming and relevant information to visiting actors
  • Read and provide accurate timings of scripts
  • Liaise with script team regarding any cuts or additions to scripts required for filming
  • Responsible for all paperwork connected with the production including the scripts, typing them out if necessary


  • During the shoot, assist the Director by timing and logging details of the shots, wild tracks etc. and checking continuity, passing on information as appropriate to members of cast, crew and production team
  • Write up edit notes for Post Production
  • Operate the server work station
  • Set up Metadata panel
  • Start and stop recording and playback clips as required

Skills and experience required:

  • Computer literacy
  • Experience of supervising drama scripts
  • Experience of broadcast single camera drama
  • Experience of working in a high pressure environment with the ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Knowledge of basic VTR operations
  • Good production knowledge

Costume Supervisor

We are currently searching for an experienced Costume Supervisor to join our creative Costume Department.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Costume Manager, they will be responsible for reading and breaking down scripts to determine costume requirements, managing costume continuity and for the supervision of Costume Assistants/ Dressers.

Applicants must have the following skills and experience:

  • Creative eye for fashion and excellent feel for what works in relation to costume in a serial drama
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practices pertaining to the role
  • Ability to sew and repair clothes
  • Creative and artistic flair
  • Knowledge of costume continuity
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good manual handling skills (including physical ability to undertake full range of duties)
  • Understanding of costume within television and the production process
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to structured deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively prioritise workload.
