True Love or True Lies?

True Love or True Lies is the original British relationship-focused reality format from Lime Pictures commissioned by MTV International.

Each series, consisting of 12 × 60-minute episodes, transmits to MTV’s network of international channels and digital platforms, spanning nearly 180 countries.

The hugely successful entertainment series follows a group of couples competing to be crowned the “perfect couple” through a series of relationship tests, with each episode culminating in a pair being voted off the show.  However, not all the couples are real, and the contestants must figure out who the true lovers and liars are among them in order to win a cash prize.

The first series was nominated for a Broadcast Digital Award in the category of “Game Changer” after it was widely celebrated by critics and audience alike for its diverse casting.  Craig Orr, VP, commissioning and development, MTV International, said the show “challenges perceptions and reflects what modern-day relationships really look like.”  The debut series drove record-breaking ratings on MTV UK in its premiere week, resulting in MTV UK earning its highest ever weekly share amongst 1634s (+ 28% versus MTV’s second highest week) and its highest ever week by +19% (vs. 2017).

Danny Dyer hilariously narrates with his daughter Dani Dyer presenting the latest series.  Series one was shot on location in Tuscany and was presented by Maya Jama, transmitting in August 2018.  Series two was announced in April 2019 and was shot on location in Malta, transmitting in October 2019.
