Wise Owl Films Take Part In RTS Yorkshire Talk

  • Date: 30th October 2025

Wise Owl Films based in Leeds – which has worked with rock legends like Bruce Springsteen and Blondie – will reveal all about the making of an award-winning TV series at a special Royal Television Society event in Leeds on November 12th.

Wise Owl Films are the team behind the BBC Two brand When ‘x’ Came To Britain, which has so far featured the stories of the nation’s love affairs with Bob Marley, Nirvana, Motown, Tina Turner, ABBA, Blondie and Bruce Springsteen.

The producers of the series will be on stage at the Record Plant, Farsley, to talk about the privilege – and challenges – of bringing each hour long-documentary to TV screens.

Mark Robinson, executive producer of the series, said:

Just how did Bruce Springsteen end up with a box of Yorkshire tea bags and crumbly biscuits when we interviewed him at his home?

What was it like filming on stage with Blondie in front of 100,000 people at Glastonbury?

And what happened when it looked like our Tina Turner film would have to be scrapped halfway through production?

All these production secrets and more will be shared in an evening which we hope will be a revelatory celebration of a brand which it has been an absolute privilege for the team at Wise Owl in Leeds to produce.

We have got to travel the world, meet our musical heroes, and find out just what Britain really means to these icons of rock and pop – as well as what they have meant to us, through talking to dedicated fans with extraordinary stories to share”.

When The Legends Came To Britain is an RTS Yorkshire event which will be held at the Record Plant, Sunny Bank Mills, Farsley, LS28 5UJ on Wednesday November 12th at 6.30pm. Information on tickets for this event are on the RTS Yorkshire website.

Wise Owl Films is a non-scripted label of Lime Pictures, part of All3Media.
